Question:

Two roots of quadratic equations are given; frame the equation.

(1) 10 and -10

(2) 1–3√5 and 1 + 3√5

(3) 0 and 7

Answer:

(1) 10 and -10

Solution:
Let α = 10 and β = -10
∴ α + β = 10 – 10 = 0 α β = 10(-10)      = – 100
Quadratic equation is
x2 – (α + β) x + α β = 0
⇒ x2 – 0(x) – 100 = 0
⇒ x2 – 100 = 0

(2) 1–3√5 and 1 + 3√5
