Chordates have supported notochords in their body. All chordates are included in the same phylum.
The phylum Chordata is classified into three subphyla-Urochordata,Cephalochordata and Vertebrata/Craniata. Meanwhile, the characters of chordates are below:
- Notochord supports the Body
- They have Pharyngeal gill-slits or lungs to be used for respiration
- Hollow nerve cord is present on the dorsal side of the body
- Heart is found on the ventral side of the body
