According to Newton’s Universal Law of Gravitation, every object in the Universe attracts every other object using a definite force. This force is directly proportional to the product of the masses of the two objects. It is also inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Now, if you take two objects of masses M and m kept at a distance from each other, then the gravitational force of attraction between these two bodies is written mathematically, as F ∝ Mm/ d2 Or F= G (Mm/d2). In this, G known as the constant of proportionality is also the Universal gravitational constant.
